Citizenship Ceremony and Celebration
If you happen to be in Cortona on Saturday, July 5, at 6:30pm . . .
You are invited to celebrate Frances being honored with Italian citizenship! July 5 is also the 35th anniversary of buying Bramasole! Doubleheader!!
Here’s what the mayor of Cortona said in an article in the Arezzo newspaper: “Frances Mayes has been an honorary citizen of our Municipality for years and from today she obtains the legal recognition of Italian citizenship. I thank the institutions for having evaluated the merits and high services that our fellow citizen has rendered, not only to the city of Cortona, but to the whole country. Thanks to the literary works and her commitment, Italy and Cortona have echoed all over the world. It is with immense gratitude that we will celebrate this moment, together with all those who made this result possible, in the Hall of the City Council, the ‘home’ of all the people of Cortona.”
On Sunday evening there’s a dinner for 100 (one hundred!) at Il Falconiere, our friend Silvia Baracchi’s fabulous restaurant, and DelBrenna, the wonderful jewelry store in Cortona, has made a special place-setting and charm for all the guests.
